I see the announcement for 0.3 — but couldn’t find a link to install it here or on mozilla.org. Where do we need to go? Thanks!

It is a long process. I have released 0.3 from my side but it will have to be approved by someone at mozilla which could take anywhere from 1 day to a week. I will put up a download link from this site but have some configuration problems on this server with XPI files. I will have to sort those out first :)

I guess I need to put in a little more information regarding the configuration on this server. The problem is that I am on a windows based server and there is no way of setting the mime type on this webhost. Because of ultra high security :( the files with extensions other than the ones already specified are not even visible :(

The only way out is to open the file and send it out with the mime extensions. I will try it out today.

You need to add the application/x-xpinstall mime type for .xpi files – if you’re on Apache just put:
    AddType application/x-xpinstall .xpi
    in your .htaccess or httpd.conf
In the meantime people should still be able to download it like a normal file, then install it using File->Open File

    Hi Vivek

I couldn’t contact you through the contact form.

I have some feature requests i was wondering you could process :

    1. The foxpose icon in the Status Bar Auto-Hiding with 1 tab open and only being visible with more than 1 tab.
    2. I heard Safari’s expose has some sort of animation (I don’t have a Mac), so that would be cool.
    3. Ability to the foxpose icon on the TAB Bar (like a small icon on the tab bar to open foXpose).
    4. When people right click the foXpose icon tha ability to save the current tabs or open a preview in the side bar (Quick Tabs)
    5. Adding an options to allow resizing the preview
    windows

    I know these are hard.

    Sorry !

.3 works great and love it. Suggestions if it is possible -
    1. Add an option to resize the windows so I can read the text (like milki suggested)then…
    2. Being able to surf multiple pages at once in the preview menu without having to switch to any single one
Sorry if someone else has designed that feature, but I have yet to find it.

Do you think you could add an option to enable multiple view mode on by default (ie. at launch of firefox)

    Posted January 10, 2006 at 5:32 am | Permalink

0.3 is excellent! Well, actually, even 0.2 was good, but it was rather “cool” than “usable”. With 0.3 there’s no need in tab bar. Why would you need it, if foXpose is that simple ! So the feature request is:
    -no tab bar when foXpose tab is open;
-no tab bar at all (when the extension is enabled). It would be cool… the new generation of tabbed browsing… Anyway, it’s already very good, thank you very much!

    Ermmmm.
Didn’t IE7 copy Tabbed Browsing, Search Box (adding multiple search engines) and RSS from Firefox.
    Ermmmm.
Viamatic foXpose is not like Quick Tabs in IE7, it’s really different and better.

Hi I get some weird canvas error when clicking the icon (v0.3). it keeps showing the error window and when I press ok another one shows up (and keeps popping up every time). I have to kill firefox the hard way to get it to work again. any idea on how to fix this. Also I have a v0.2 of foXpose in my extentions list but I cant uninstall it, go into preferences or anything…it just sits there.
How do I uninstall this one manually ?

  20. Posted January 13, 2006 at 11:04 am | Permalink

TO uninstall foXpose follow these steps.

    1) Install foXpose 0.2 from here
    2) Restart firefox
    3) Uninstall foXpose

As far as the error popping up is concerned you are possibly working on Gentoo Linux without compiling firefox with SVG and Canvas support.

When I look in my prefs.js file I find lines like this:

    user_pref(“viamatic.xpose.autorefresh”, “true”);

Isn’t this the wrong format for a true/false variable? Isn’t is necessary to delete the doublequotes and make it like this?

    user_pref(“viamatic.xpose.autorefresh”, true);

  23. Posted January 20, 2006 at 3:38 pm | Permalink

These values are unicode strings so they need to be “true” or “false”. In the next version I will make them into bool values.

I believe I have found 2 small impairments:
    1. Tabs without a name do not get shown on the Viamatic foXpose preview page
    2. Right-clicking on the foXpose icon should bring up the options menu, which it does not. Right now it does mostly what left-clicking does.

P.S. In the options menu.. is it thumnail or thumbnail. Just a suggestion ;)

this is very cool, but it will be the definitive extension if someone explains how to assign a mouse gesture to activate the extension.

I use Mouse Gestures 1.0.4 that lets you assign a javascript to a mouse gesture. Someone know which javascript code will trigger the extension?

very usefull, but i would like to see extensions to firefox more beatfully, not only usefull. You could put some animation when the icons are organized and choosed. The icons could be centered on the screen and organized out of a box, only the pics would be showed.

thank you for what you did for us! :)

  34. Posted January 26, 2006 at 9:22 am | Permalink

To assign Mouse Gestures use the JavaScript code Viamatic.Xpose.Main() this will call the Xpose code. Hope this helps out people who wish to add mouse gestures.

    Great plugin!

However I have found that it will “only” take a still screenshot of the page and display as a thumbnail. Is it possible that future versions of foxpose will be able to resize the pages interactivily ?

Example: If a page that has a refresh of say once every 60 seconds then the thumbnail will only display how that page looked like when you activated foxpose, I would like foxpose to be able to listen to for example refresh and when the refresh occurs in the page the thumbnail should be updated aswell…

Is this possible to implement or does 0.3 already supports this feature?

for an example of a google 403 error you can search google for:

More info on the extension can be found in the following thread:
    http://johnny.ihackstuff.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=3339&start=15

I would really like to find out why they can’t co-exist. If you need anymore information just post a reply or email me at:

Hello there, heard about this supposedly great extension.. so I went to mozilla’s site to download it.

Installed it on Firefox v1.5.0.1, where I have a few extensions: All-In-One Sidebar (AIOS), AutoCopy, SessionSaver, Duplicate Tabs, Tab Clicking Options, well it starts the std. install process of counting down 5 seconds, then I press Install, nothing seemed to happen, then I closed Firefox, and then restarted it, no new extension in place… Figured maybe AIOS was interfering, so I disabled it, tried installing again, no help, then I uninstalled AIOS and when I got back into Firefox, I no longer had an Install option in the extensions area, but I did yesterday… So I do I get back to a functioning Firefox and preferably one where I can use your extension as well since it seems to interesting…

    Thanks,
    Sincerely,

    Emmanuel Lemor

P.S.: I tried this procedure on 2 computers, 1 running XP and one running 2000, both no longer can install extensions :(

    Great Extension!!

Only with Tab Mix Plus 0.3.0.4 there seems to be a problem: in TM+ I’ve set the maximum row number of tabs to 3. When I open a forth row a side bar appears next to the tabs to scroll to the top or bottom three rows. In that very moment the sidebar in the Viamatic foXpose window disappears and I only see the last 8 or so tabs as thumbnails, there’s no way of moving upward…

    Hi, great extention !
I think there is a cosmetic bug in foxpose. I prefer to use the extention with the “show tab” option unchecked. When I activate the extention, the right side of the very right tab appear faulty, here is a picture of the problem:
    http://s1.upload.sc/preview/e3bba96b0f0ebd1c4b9f58181b02b2fb
I think eventhough the foxpose tab is not shown, the very right tab is rendered as another tab exists on the right. I hope it’s clear :)
Thenks in advance, and keep up the good work…

The idea is very good and make me wonder to opera that does such thing for long. The only things i can tell is that i would like to use this extension but this is quasi-impossible for me at this time. I work with a lot of tabs opened at the same time, and the time taken to generate the thumbsnail is just really too long. Is there any chance for the extension to use a cache system (with some user config choice) to avoid refreshing the thumbs all the time we ask for the foxpose?
If this is possible then i’ll re-install it right now ;) .

Hi, I’m tring to edit the config.ini to include foxpose.xpi when it’s installed, but I get a -204 No _INSTALL_SCRIPT error, I think due to the XPI not having a install.js in the XPI. I’m an user of Viamatic FoXpose. I tried to translate it in italian.

I’ve also add the file to translate the description.
I think there is a little bug in xpose-settings.xul: in the menu (id=”cmbSize”) label and value are inverted (this in english doesn’t matter of course).
